Top of the line dual GPU card. Radeon HD 4870x2 competitor.
The GeForce GTX 295 is a dual GPU card based on two GT200-400-B3 chips. Each GT200-400-B3 chips have the same core config as the GTX 280 (240:80:32) but downclocked to GTX 260 frequencies.
There were two different designs for this card. The first one is similar to the GeForce 9800 GX2, with two PCBs separated by the cooling system. The second version uses a more traditional layout, with the two GPUs on a unique PCB.
Two GeForce GTX 295 can be used in SLI for a 4 GPU configuration.
This card allowed NVIDIA to retake the single card performance lead from ATI and the HD 4870x2.
